NAA Artist Development Programme (ADP) 2026

Location: NAA Heritage Building, Windhoek
Stipend: N$ 5,000 per month

Who Should Apply

Mid-career Namibian visual artists with at least five years of professional practice. The programme is open to practitioners working across painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, installation, and multimedia.
Artists whose work engages experimentation, collaboration, innovation, and public or community engagement are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  1. Be Namibian citizens or permanent residents.

  2. Have at least five years of active professional practice in the visual arts.

  3. Present a portfolio demonstrating creative experimentation or conceptual depth.

  4. Be available to work full-time from the NAA Heritage Building for the entire programme period (August-October 2026).

  5. Commit to participating in all mentorship sessions, workshops, and public events.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of NAA staff, mentors, and invited curatorial professionals according to:

  1. Artistic merit and innovation: technical skill, originality, and conceptual depth.

  2. Experimentation and engagement: evidence of innovation, collaboration, and community interaction.

  3. Relevance to the Namibian context: contribution to local cultural development.

  4. Professional readiness: capacity to commit and benefit from the ADP’S structure and mentorship.

  5. Collaborative spirit: openness to peer learning and shared studio culture.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  1. Artist Statement (max three hundred words) describing current practice and interests.

  2. Project Proposal (max three hundred words explaining what the artist intends to explore or produce during the ADP.

  3. Portfolio (10–15 images with titles, dates, materials, and dimensions, or equivalent video documentation).

  4. Curriculum Vitae (max two pages).

  5. Two References from curators, artists, or organisations familiar with the applicant’s work.
