Buhle Ndhlovu

Buhle Ndhlovu is a Namibian writer, editor, curator and visual anthropologist. Her work is primarily focused on exploring the interconnected affective registers associated with sensory experience. Thematically, she is interested in the radical potentialities of blackness, and in exploring. Black sovereignty, representation, interiority. and fugitivity.

Buhle is the winner of the inaugural Bank Windhoek Doek! Literary Awards Poetry Prize. As a Chevening Scholar (2021-2022), she obtained a Master's in Visual Anthropology from the University of Manchester. She completed the Zeitz MOCAA & University of the Western Cape Museum Fellowship (2023 - 2024), learning about curatorial practice, collections management, and contemporary scholarship on art discourse from the continent and its diaspora. As an ARAK Collection Art Writing Fellow (2024), she focused on the work of seven Namibian artists within the Collection, producing both writing and a series of podcast episodes.

She currently serves as interim Collections Curator at the National Art Gallery of Namibia, co-curating the exhibitions programme, producing research and developing curatorial texts, and contributing to key programming elements like school and university tours, as well as artists walkabouts. She also serves as inaugural editor of WAITHOOD Magazine.
